St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Nail Art 1

Yay… it’s March, and spring is just around the corner! I planted my seedlings this past weekend and I can’t wait for warmer weather. Last year St. Patrick’s Day was unusually warm for this time of year, and I’m hoping for a repeat!

I was inspired to do some St. Paddy’s Day nail art when I got my Square Hue box in the mail the other day. The three colors in the box were “Patty’s Pint” (dark emerald green shimmer), “Blonde Ale” (light tan/gold shimmer), and “Amber Lager” (amber/bronze shimmer). I used the first two colors in this manicure, and I applied Julep Vivien over the Blonde Ale for some gold glitter. I used China Glaze Passion and a dotting tool to create the shamrock, and then I added a few random green “glequins” for a little extra glitz!

Heart & Swirlies – Valentine’s Day Nail Art 0

Valentine's Day Nail Art - Hearts & Swirlies

Today I have another Valentine’s Day theme using water decals. For this look I did a french manicure with black tips using Cult Nevermore, applied the heard and swirly water decals, and then topped with two coats of Seche Vite. Love is in the air!  <3

“Owl Love” Valentine’s Day Nail Art Using Water Decals 5

Valentines Day Nail Art - Owl Love

I recently purchased a bunch of water decals on eBay and decided to give some a try today. This was my first time using water decals and I have to say they are super easy to use and I can’t wait to try some others. As easy as they were though, this was just one of those days where no matter what I did I kept messing up my nails. I would bump one, then another, and then another… ugh. I had to redo the polish on a couple nails several times. I think was just in a hurry and trying to multi-task and it just didn’t work for me today. LOL But in the end my nails turned out cute, and now I have to get ready to go out tonight. <3

Polish Days Manicure – Snowflakes n’ Glitter 18

The Polish Days theme this month is “BLING!” – anything sparkly, glittery or metallic.  I decided to do a winter / holiday theme with some bling.  I fell in love with Gelish Holiday Party Blues when I swatched it a couple of days ago, so I used this as the base.  I stamped on snowflakes in a random pattern using Bundle Monster plate BM319 and Konad white polish.  Holiday Party Blues is already loaded with glitter, but I added even more using a glitter pot that came in my last Julep Maven box, and then I added rhinestones to the center of the snowflakes.  I really love how this turned out, and hope you do too!

2012 Holiday Wishlist & Gift Ideas 1

It’s that time of year!  My family celebrates Christmas and we are big on stocking stuffers.  When I was a kid my step-dad worked for an aluminum foil company and he would bring home giant rolls of colored foil and my mom would use it every chance she could including wrapping gifts and stocking stuffers.  Every year our stockings would be more full than the last and it just became this tradition to load up the stockings with all kinds of little things wrapped in foil.  The items in our stockings were usually everyday things like toothbrushes, socks, lip gloss, candy, makeup, etc. No matter what was inside, it was just so much fun to open all of the little individually wrapped gifts.  I try to keep this tradition going with my daughter, and lucky for me she also loves nail polish!

My family and friends have been asking what I want for Christmas, so I thought I would share some of the items that are on my wishlist this year.  You’ll be surprised to see that they’re not all nail polish-related items.  LOL  Although, I do have a rather extensive list of individual nail polishes that I desire.  You will find some of those on my Pinterest wishlist board and my Amazon.com wishlist.

First up are hand creams.  I have been a swatching fool lately (I swatched 12 polishes in one day recently), and soaking off gel polish with acetone and the cold weather are starting to take a toll on my hands.  My saving grace lately has been L’Occitane hand cream.  I have a big 5.2 oz tube that’s almost gone. The scent is very subtle, and it’s just so relieving on my hands… love it.

Last weekend I went boutique shopping with my mom, sister, grandma and aunt and we stumbled upon products by The Naked Bee.  OMG!  We used the Orange Blossom Honey lotion sampler that was out and we couldn’t stop smelling our  hands all day!  We were like a bunch of junkies trying to get high or something.  This stuff smells SO good… buy it for every woman you know!

I also LOVE sampler kits.  The Sephora fragrance sampler allows you to try out lots of different scents and it comes with a voucher for one full size bottle, so you can pick up a bottle of your favorite once you’ve tried them all out!  These are the sampler kits from Sephora that are on my list this year.

I also love lip glosses, but unfortunately my guy doesn’t like it when I wear “stuff” on my lips so I haven’t been wearing any lately. I think it’s time to change that and start wearing it again. :)
