KBSHIMMER ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF NINE NEW POLISHES
KBShimmer Summer Polish Line Set For Release June 1st, 2013

Visit https://www.kbshimmer.com/press-release/ for an online version of this press release that includes pictures suitable for web use.

KBShimmer is excited to announce the addition of 9 new colors to their 3-Free glitter polish line and an expansion to their nail prep line.  Owner Christy Rose says “With warm weather and sandals popping up, June is the perfect time for bright, bold colors and patriotic themes to celebrate a fun and exciting summer.”

The summer lineup includes one glitter top coat, two glitter crellys in a white base and six bright, bold polishes, two in a matte finish.  KBShimmer will also be expanding their nail care line to include two scented cuticle oils and liquid nail prep. “Our new line was created to play off the bolder palette of summer, some inspired by the 80’s and 90s, but also to celebrate the patriotic season. One of our polishes plays off the color of the year, Emerald Green, and will ease people into the summer while two others were inspired by the fall 2013 Pantone colors Koi and Vivacious. Both will make for an easy transition through the summer and into the fall.  We are also excited to unveil two scented cuticle oils in an easy-applicator pen.  We hope to inspire and motivate people to go out in the sun and show off their nails!” says Rose.

Me.Lissa Custom Nail Lacquer 3

I have a few new indie polishes from Me.Lissa Custom Nail Lacquer to share with you today. I love glitter polishes that can be built up in layers to full opacity, so Me.Lissa sent me three polishes of this variety from her new Great Gatsby Collection to try.  The first picture that’s shown for each color demonstrates how they look based on the number of coats applied.  From left to right, they show 1 to 4 coats.  They all had really good coverage with three coats, they were very easy to apply and the glitter distributed evenly.  I swatched these polishes on their own, but they would also work great as toppers over other colors.  Visit the Me.Lissa Etsy store to purchase these polishes.  They are limited edition and will only be sold as long as supplies last, so get them while you can!

Struck Upon a Star has a purple tinted base and is loaded with different colored glitter in a variety of shapes and sizes, and some of them are iridescent and holographic.  There are also holographic stars in the mix.  I was a little worried when I first saw this polish that the stars might not lay down well, but I didn’t have any issues with them at all.  After applying three coats and a top coat, my nails had a nice glassy finish and the holographic effects were very cool.

I Did Love Him Once has a pink shimmer base and red, black, and white square and hex glitters.  It also has some bar glitter and red hearts.  I had to do a little fishing to get the hearts, but I like that you could wear this with or without the hearts if you choose.

Valley of Ashes has a grey base with a silvery shimmer and is loaded with black hex and micro glitters.  This might be my favorite of the three since I think it’s very versatile and could be worn with almost any outfit.  (Yes, I try to match my nails to my clothes LOL).

Smitten Polish – Hocus Pocus 7

This is an indie by Smitten Polish that I purchased a while ago. I’m not sure why I waited so long to try this polish – it’s really stunning. It has a purple jelly base with really fine fuchsia holographic glitter. Application was very smooth and it built up well. It was mostly opaque with just two coats, but I applied three for good measure and then topped it off with two coats of Seche Vite for a glossy finish. Smitten Polish can be purchased from their Etsy Shop or at Llarowe, which is where I found this one.  You can see my other Smitten Polish swatches here.

Shimmer Polish Swatches 6

I have some more beauties from Shimmer Polish for you today. These are all glitter polishes with clear bases that I paired with other colors. The glitter applies evenly and with ease, and as with most glitter it is top coat thirsty so I topped each mani off with two coats of Seche Vite for a smooth finish.

First up is Elsa, which has turquoise, gold and red glitter.  I applied this over black (Cult Nails Nevermore).

Next is Lucie, a silver and red glitter mixture.  I applied one coat of this over a silver holographic polish (Julep Rebel).

Shimmer Polish "Lucie" Swatch

This is Nichole, a combination of red, blue and silver glitter.  I applied Nichole over white (OPI Alpine Snow).  This color combo reminds me of the 4th of July.

Shimmer Polish "Nicole" Swatch

This is Julie, which is a mix of several different colored glitters.  This one is really quite stunning over black (Cult Nails Nevermore).

And finally we have Jennifer, which has soft blue and periwinkle glitters.  I paired this with a light tan color (OPI Did You ‘Ear About Van Gogh?).

Shimmer Polish "Jennifer" Swatch

I wanted to see what Jennifer would look like with a matte top coat, so I applied Essie Matte About You over top.  I love how glitter polishes look with a matte top – it really accentuates the colors of the glitter.

Shimmer Polish – Mary 3

My manicure today is what I call a jelly sandwich or glitter sandwich… a coat of glitter polish between two coats of colored polish.  The glitter layer is Shimmer Polish “Mary” which has red, black and silver glitter in a clear base with a red tint.  I combined this with China Glaze Seduce Me, and topped it off with two coats of Seche Vite.  I love how this turned out!  You can see more examples of Mary in Shimmer Polish’s Etsy store – it looks great on top of red too!

KBShimmer Spring 2013 Swatches 1

Today I have a few polishes from the KBShimmer Spring collection to share with you.  The collection will be officially released on February 15th, and you can preview all of the colors in the press release. Here is a bottle shot to show off the new labels.  The lighter color polishes have a black label, and darker polishes have a white label which provides great contrast for easy reading.  The new polishes also come with a new flat brush.

I love glitter polishes that build up well without having to apply a base color underneath.  The first two colors are just that and they applied flawlessly.  I applied three coats of each to get a nice layered glitter effect and for full coverage.  Each of these manicures are also topped off with two coats of KBShimmer Clearly On Top, which smoothed out the glitter for a nice glossy finish.

This is “Iris My Case” a light purple crelly (creamy/jelly) base loaded with purple, pink, silver and blue glitters of different sizes.

“Spring Training” is a light green crelly base with pink, purple, blue and green glitters of different sizes.  The color combinations of both of these crelly/glitter polishes just scream spring!

And finally we have “A Dot Mess”.  First, love the name… second, love the circle shaped glitter!  This one is a top coat that’s meant to be layered over other colors and it’s loaded with fuschia and black glitters and microglitter.  I layered it over OPI Fly for a nice contrast.

So what do you think? Do these put you in the mood for spring?! I can’t wait to also get my hands on “Little Dottie” and “Get Clover It”!

Nail Pattern Boldness “Oodiful” 6

This is the first polish that I’ve tried from indie maker Nail Pattern Boldness.  “Oodiful” is a light grey jelly base with pink and white hex and square glitters.  I love the color combination and the subtleness of the glitter.  This polish layers well and the application was smooth and effortless.  I applied three coats for full coverage, and topped off with one coat of Seche Vite.  I’m extremely pleased with my first Nail Pattern Boldness experience and can’t wait to try some of their other creations.

Candeo Colors Jellybean 0

I recently purchased a couple of indie polishes from my wishlist at Llarowe, and today I have a swatch of Candeo Colors Jellybean.  When I saw this it reminded me of spring and Easter… it’s just so cheerful!  It has a pale yellow base with pink, blue and purple hex glitters, and some pink micro-glitter.  The yellow base isn’t nearly as bright as the swatches that I’ve seen… I expected it to be much more yellow.  It layers beautifully – this swatch is three coats, but it was almost completely opaque with just two coats.  And of course I topped it off with Seche Vite.

Smitten Polish – Glass Elevator 2

I have a quickie post for you today of an indie polish that I purchased a while ago from Smitten Polish.   This is Glass Elevator… it has a milky white base and is filled with green and light blue micro glitter and light blue hexes.  This one has been on my shelf for at least a couple of months, and there wasn’t any separation or glitter sinking in the bottle.  Application was a breeze, though it took three coats to get full coverage.  I used one coat of Seche Vite on top. Today was a bit hectic and I didn’t have much time to spend on my nails, so I was a little sloppier than usual… but the color is gorgeous!

If you like this, you should also check out my swatch of Smitten Polish Candy Kisses!
