LeChat Night at the Cinema & Butterflies Swatches

I recently added a few more LeChat Perfect Match colors to my collection, and I have swatches of two purple shades today.  I really love the quality of this brand.  I have several more shades to swatch in the coming weeks, including some fun Mood color-changers.  The two polishes that you see below both have amazing formulas and were easy to apply, with opaque coverage in just two coats.

A Night at the Cinema is a dark purple base that’s loaded with purple glitter.  It’s SUPER gorgeous in person.  I’ve really been drawn to purples lately, and this color might be in my top 10 favorites of all time!  I didn’t want to take it off!

LeChat A Night at the Cinema - swatch by Chickettes.comButterflies is a lovely lilac purple shade with a cream finish.  This one was nearly opaque with just one coat, but I applied two for good measure.

I just got the Vintage Hollywood collection last week, and I agree. A Night At The Cinema is amazing. I thought that would be my fave of the group, but Ready For My Close-up is a stunner and I ended putting that one on first. But A Night At The Cinema is coming soon!

Where did you purchase these on? I’ve email the company and haven’t received a response yet.

I own and have worn night at the cinema and it is absolutely one of my favorites, but I do have to mention that I had a bit of tip wear with that color that I don’t usually get with any other polishes. I also tried it on my sister in law and mom and same thing too, we all had some pretty bad tip wear. I was super disappointed about that, did you wear that color and notice any tip wear?

    • Andrea says:

Interesting. I didn’t wear it for long.

That is unfortunate, I seem to have the opposite experience. I applied this color 7 days ago, and I have zero tip wear. This is one of the better wearing colors I’ve ever used. I spend a lot of time typing, so I’m surprised that I don’t have any tip wear, but it still looks perfect. Not even a tiny chip or wear.

I wipe my nail plate with rubbing alcohol and then use OPI’s Chip Skip. Then I used 1 very thin coat of Gelish Foundation, 1 thin coat of Gelish Structure gel, 2 thin color coats, and finally 2 coats of Gelish Top It Off (wrapping and curing each coat). This is a very opaque color and I got great coverage in 2 coats. I always “wrap” each layer by dabbing a very thin layer on the free edge of each nail. I’m definitely going to try other LeChat gellac because this one was so great.

I love the colour. Did you use LeChat branded base and top coats or do you think harmony gelish base/top coat would work the same?

    • Rosie says:

Kerry, I’ve had my bottles of Gelish foundation/top coat for almost a year now, and I’m wearing the LeChat gellac color on my manicure. I like to do two coats of the top coat for extra durability and shine. It looks amazing. I’ve never had a problem with mixing/matching brands of gellac with other brands of foundation/top coat.

Andrea, I just got my bottles of “Night at the Cinema” in the mail! I bought it once I saw your photos of the swatches, thanks! I did my pedicure with the RNP and used the gellac color on my fingernails. It is amaaaaaazing, I cannot believe how gorgeous it is in person. My bottles were both pretty thick and difficult to apply, but I rarely wear glitter polish. I was still able to get my application pretty darn close to perfect. Thanks for this suggestion, what a great buy.
