Gelish Trends: #PartyGirlProblems, Getting Gritty with It & Are You Feeling it?

The Gelish Trends seem to be making their way into online stores and I picked up a few more this week.  These three polishes are all glitter toppers and are glitter suspended in a clear base.  They can be applied over a base color for a little extra bling, or you can wear them on their own as seen in my swatches below.  The Trends are a little on the thick side, and in my experience they were harder to soak off than normal gel polish colors if you apply several coats.  Each of these swatches is three coats with no undies.  The glitter in these polishes is actually pretty dense, but it does take a few coats to get full coverage.  Even after three coats you can still see a few bare spot, especially near the tips and edges.

Don’t miss my short video at the bottom of the page to see how these gorgeous glitter toppers sparkle and shine!

This is #PartyGirlProblems, which is loaded with different colored micro glitters.  The most prominent colors are pink, blue and silver.

This is Getting Gritty With It, another dense micro glitter.  This one has different shades of blue, a little pink and a little silver.

And the last one that I have for you today is Are You Feeling It?, which is loaded with different sizes of teal blue glitter.  Teal is my favorite color so I’m actually going to wear this one for a couple of days.  :)

I love these, especially the blue one which surprises me. :-) How do these compare to scrubbing in glitter?

I have getting gritty with it and it is just as beautiful in person. I wore it with On Trend from RCM and it was a great combo. Now I want all the others! Love your blog. :)

Loving these colours especially for this time of year. Where do you buy your gelish from? X

Thank you for these wonderful swatches. These Gelish Trends are really glittery. Like I’d hoped some of their older glitter toppers would have be (but aren’t).

But which ones to buy? There are 16! There must be some weeks when I’m not wearing glitter. I’m so undecided. Spoilt for choice!

Meanwhile, people in the UK are starting to post swatches of The Snow Escape collection. They’re not looking promising. Think I’ll stick with Trends.

Thank you for posting these!! Do any of them have undies on? I am really wanting Party Girl Problems for NYE, but I want it to look just like what you’ve got!

  8. Nicole says:

How is the finished texture? I hate when glitter is chunky and catches of everything, but in the video it looks like the top coat is smooth and glossy….

I love seeing your swatches. I bought Party Girl Problems but just tried it and couldn’t get coverage like you did. :( Did you sponge it on? Even after three coats, it looked nothing like yours. Any tips on application would be greatly appreciated!

    • Andrea says:

I just painted it on. My coats were on the thicker side, but I didn’t do anything special. Perhaps your glitter has settled in the bottle.

Is there a special way you apply these? I have a lot of natural nail showing underneath and I did 3 coats. Do you have an application video for the glitter trends?

    • Andrea says:

I didn’t do anything special. The glitter does want to avoid the tips for some reason, but that’s typical. You just have to push the glitter around with your brush if you have bald spots.

I tried #partygirlproblems for the first time tonight after snagging it on a Sally Beauty clearance sale. After three coats, it still doesn’t look half as thick as your gorgeous swatches and video. Should I be applying much thicker coats? I was hoping to be able to wear these alone, but so far it looks like I’ll need to apply over a base color.

    • Alaina Pol says:

AHA! If only I’d read all the previous posts before making this post. You’re right Andrea, the glitter settles in the bottom! After shaking it and reapplying the coats were 3x thicker. I did about three nails before shaking again and finally got the coverage I’ve been craving! That was an easy fix. Thanks for the advice!

Give your bottle a really good shake so that you get a lot of glitter on the brush :)
