VIDEO: How to Apply Gelish Structure Gel

Have you ever tried also more layers of Structure Gel? I have tried 4 of them and the nails was very hard – I can almost compare it with gel nails. With one difference – you can remove these nails with aceton. I love it!
I haven’t tried more than two layers. My nails are naturally pretty strong and just using gel polish alone gives them a lot of strength. :)

I love Structure Gel for covering glitter! It seems to give a smooth finish faster than just the Top it Off. I do an all glitter look where I sprinkle fine loose glitter over the base coat and just pat the glitter down to level it out. Then cover with usually just one layer of Structure Gel and then Top it Off. It’s perfectly smooth and looks awesome. I love being able to use tons of glitter and not have that rough finish like some glitter nail polish will have.
I am loving your videos! Do you think you could do a video on your soaking off process? I don’t know how you can swatch them and use the gel polishes so frequently without really damaging your nail plates. I have a tough time soaking the polish off without taking off at least some of my nail layers, and I’ve tried various things. Thanks again – your blog is awesome!!!
With Gelish you can never damage your nail – manually. I use the bowl which I fill with nailremover with aceton (it is better than just aceton, because it contains lanolin to protect your skin a little bit) and then I put my fingers in the liquid and I wait 10 minutes (with structure gel more). After that time I remove my fingers and try to GENTLY remove the broken Gelish. If there are some rest pieces, I put the fingers into remover again for few minutes. I can repeat it more times to remove all Gelish with NO MANUAL STRENGHT! When you use “orange stick”, you can never peel off any of your nail layers.

I use the foil method for removal and have written an article about it. I will also get around to doing a video one of these days (hopefully soon). I soak for 10 minutes, then scrape with an orange stick the parts that will easily come off and then soak longer if needed to get the rest off. My nails don’t get damaged from the process. I just posted some FAQ’s that answer your questions about swatching :)
My nails are short and brittle but I want to add a little length to them to make them all even. Can I apply a nail tip and place the structure gel on top of that and then continue with polish?
I’ve heard of people doing that, but it doesn’t sound strong enough to me. I would use a hard gel.
does gelish make a hard gel?
Yes they do.
since its not a soak off, how would I remove it? Im just trying to see what my options are.
You can use a soak-off base underneath it or file it off (not fun).
A great use (that I just discovered from Gelish Geekery) is to use Structure over nail striping tape. I’m THRILLED to say it’s working beautifully! And FINALLY I can keep striping tape on for the length of my gel polish!
