Shellac Tutti Frutti w/Zebra Print & Glitter
The pink is Shellac Tutti Frutti, which has a pearly finish with a bit of purple iridescence. The glittery effect was achieved by applying one coat of Couture High Maintenance followed by two coats of Ink Chrome Silver.
It took a lot of steps to achieve the half-and-half look. I started with one coat of High Maintenance on the whole nail, then wiped off the tacky layer and applied a piece of nail art striping tape down the middle of the nail. I painted two coats of Tutti Frutti on one side, removed the tape, wiped the tacky layer and applied a fresh piece of tape over the pink edge. I applied 2 coats of Ink Chrome Silver on the second half. I applied a thin layer of Gelish TIO over the whole nail, wiped off the tacky layer and then used a piece of scotch tape to cover up the glitter side of the nail so that I could stamp the zebra print onto just the pink half. I used a dotting tool to apply Gelish Foundation down the center of the nail and then added the rhinestones on top while the foundation was still wet, then cured. I applied one coat of Gelish TIO over the whole nail. Ta-da!
Anyone interested in a video to see how this is done, or did I explain it well enough?
Note: I don’t normally mention this in my explanations because it seems redundant, but when applying gel polish you have to cure each coat with a UV or LED lamp.

Now i also use the foundation for glu the rhinestones and that has given me excellent results.

I am loving your website, it is so helpful in helping me decide which gel colors to buy next. I see that recently you have gotten a Shellac haul, in regards to curing, have you tried curing Shellac with an LED light or is it UV cure only? I only have an LED light and see some beautiful Shellac colors but without knowing if it will cure with my LED light I hesitate to purchase the brand.
Hi Christine – I have only tried two Shellac colors so far and both cured in my Gelish LED light. I can’t guarantee they would all cure the same.
So, let me start off by saying that I’m completely obsessed with your page and it’s turned me into an absolute nail fanatic!! I’m the anti “girly-girl”…if you know what I mean!! Anyways, I’m about to buy the metal plate for stamping. I have everything picked out..except for the actual stamp itself. Do you have any specific one that you recommend? I always turn to your page for idea but I’m stumped on this one.
Also, what top coat do you recommend for longer lasting durability on just a regular polish? And can I use gelish in the stamping or do you recommend sticking to regular polish for that?

Hi Sandy. I’m glad you are enjoying my blog! I’ve never been a girly-girl either, but I think I’m getting more in touch with my feminine side as I get older. The stamper that I get the best results from is called “Salon Express” – I grabbed it at my local Sally’s. I also have a couple of the XL squishy stampers, but they don’t seem to pick up images as well. There are lots of good plates out there, I’ve only tried a few brands so far. I like my Bundle Monster plate sets.
I recommend Seche Vite top coat for regular nail polish. My RNP manicures last the longest with this, it dries fast and it’s super glossy. You can’t really stamp with gel polish, so stick with regular nail polish. Thicker polishes work best – I like the Konad brand the best for stamping and metallics usually work well. The China Glaze Romantique collection works well. It’s a lot of trial and error to find polishes that work well. I got really discouraged at first because I was using the wrong polishes.
