Santa Claus Nail Art Using Gel Polish
I finally found a little inspiration for some Christmas nail art! This is my first attempt at Santa and his famous red suit and belt. Gelish Good Gossip made for the perfect sparkly red backdrop for this art, which is all done freehand with gel polish.
As mentioned above, I started with Gelish Good Gossip on each nail, only covering a portion of the middle nail for Santa’s hat. Then I used Presto white gel and a striping brush to add the stripes down the middle of each nail, and a dotting tool to add the white to Santa’s hat and beard. I used Presto black gel to add Santa’s belt, buttons and eyes, and Presto silver (Chiarezza) to draw the belt buckle. The nose was added as an afterthought using a pink acrylic paint since I realized that his face was missing something! LOL
My sister called me yesterday and told me that my 6 year-old-niece came home from school questioning whether Santa is real because some of her classmates told her he’s not. Then she asked if she could use my sister’s iPhone for a minute. She took the phone into the other room and asked Siri if Santa is real. Apparently Siri only gave her silly answers which just made her angry, and she yelled that Siri is a fake! LOL I asked my Siri if Santa is real, and these are some of the responses that I got… thankfully, my niece didn’t get the last response on the list when she asked!
“Let me ask him for you, Andrea”
“Really, Andrea. You sleigh me.”
“Well, those cookies don’t eat themselves.”
“Let’s just say I’m not the only one who knows if you’ve been good or bad.”
“Be careful, Andrea. You don’t want to end up on the Naughty List.”
“I’m going to pretend you didn’t ask that. I don’t want you to get a lump of coal this year.”
“He’s as real as I am, Andrea.”

I love this design!! I did mine using your design and all Gelish polish. I don’t have the nail art gel polish. How many coats do you have to use with them? Have you noticed any difference in the quality of your various art brushes? Just curious if the nicer more expensive ones are really that much better than the cheapies.
Hi Amy. The nail art polishes only need one coat, they are very thick. I really like the sable brushes. They are worth the money.
Thanks for the info. I purchased these gels and brushes. I can’t wait to try them out. I am also trying to find other nail art paint that will work on top of the gel under Gelish Top It Off. I would love to get more colors. Do you know of any that work, or am I on a fool’s errand? LOL.
A lot of people do art with acrylic paint between the gel layers. I think Akzentz also makes art gels. I’m sure there are other art gels, but I’m just starting to get into that area so I don’t know many of them yet.
