Independence Day / 4th of July Nails
The main colors used in this manicure are Gelish Spicy Fortune (red), Gelish Arctic Freeze (white) and Gelish Mali-Blu Me Away (blue). I used some striping tape to create the chevron look on my middle finger. My intention was actually have some negative space between each color, but the colors bled under my tape making the lines look messy so I drew on some silver glitter lines using a dotting tool and Ink Chrome Silver to hide those ugly lines.
The Bundle Monster holiday stamping collection has a couple of nice plates for Independence Day themed nails. The star pattern on my pinky is from plate BM-H25, and was stamped with Mundo de Unas white. The fireworks pattern seen on my ring finger and thumb is from plate BM-H14 which is more of a New Years themed plate. I used three different Mundo stamping polishes to create the multi-colored look; red #9, yellow #11 and blue (round bottle with no number). I applied dots of each color randomly on the stamping plate, so each nail is only stamped once.
They’re a little busy, but they’re festive!!

Love it! How did you scrape the extra paint off the plate without all your colors smearing together?
The entire plate was covered with color before I scraped, so I guess the colors sank into the plate grooves and didn’t blend. The Mundos are pretty thick, that may also play a part.
I am still a novice on the stamping. Multiple tries to end up w/a design that is close enough to satisfy the perfectionist in me. I am not sure if it is the stamping polish or if it is the stamper or just chalk it up to operator error…probably the later, sadly enough. I have tried Konad black and silver stamping polishes and also China Glaze blue. So far I have had the best luck with the China Glaze but still far from perfect. Any ideas that are
closer to a never fail? I have a Konad squishy stamper, and a Cheeky stamping plate. I am also trying to stamp on Gelish gel polished nails. Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

I love the video! I seem to be having the problem between the plate/polish and the stamper. Most of the time it seems like I can’t even get the stamper (which is a Pueen not a Konad, sorry) to pick up the design. I have seen where you have said use a nail file to rough up the texture to help it pick up a little easier. It seems like it might work once after trying that. When you clean your plate off do you use rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover to clean it off or just a dry pad?

Kristin, I am a novice, and one thing I have learned is that you must be very fast. After scraping, you must pick up and apply it literally in an instant, or it will dry and not pick up fully. I also use a rolling motion to pick it up and apply it. When I do all this, my success rate improves.
Filing the top of your stamper helps a lot, it shouldn’t be shiny at all (Just wash it off after so you don’t have dust). I use 2 cotton balls and a lint roller while stamping. 1 acetone soaked ball for cleaning the plate, 1 for cleaning the scraper, and the lint roller to remove the extra polish from the head of my stamper so the acetone doesn’t ruin the rubber/silicone whatever. This system works best for me and ensures a clean stamp every time.
I also normally glob the polish on one side of the image and push it across the image into the grooves. If I try to paint it on or if I screw the cap back on my polish before picking it up with the stamper it takes too much time and I find the image is not as good.
