Ibd Just Gel – Precious Peridot Swatch
This is a swatch of ibd Precious Peridot, which is a hard color to explain. In some lights it looks very green and in others it looks more brown, but it has a gorgeous sparkly finish. I know my photos always look a bit matte and that’s because of the way the light is filtered in my lightbox and it doesn’t do the shimmers the justice that they deserve. I’ve been trying to find a way to make my lightbox not mute the shimmer like it does, but I haven’t found the perfect solution yet. Oh, I apparently also forgot to top coat the pinky finger, so that one looks even more matte! LOL
I really like the ibd brand for numerous reasons. It wears well, it’s extremely affordable at $7-8 per bottle, it applies well… all around it’s a great product. I will be adding more of these to my collection over time. I bought a bunch of pink shades from the ibd line so that I can test them for fading. I’ll share the results when I’m done.
I’m going to add this one to my wish list on Amazon–not only is it a fabulous colour, but Peridot’s is the name a friend hybridizes all his African Violets under, so it really rings a bell for me. I think it will be great with my wardrobe!

I was recently introduced to gelish by having a professional do my nails for my Birthday, absolutely loved it and therefore bought the things I needed to do my own nails at home, I love the strength that Gelish gives me and wanted to ask you if this ibd polish gives the same sort of strength as Gelish does, i’m thinking I can use my Gelish foundation and top it off with it to as you said that you do use it with other brands.

Hi Andrea, I love this color, You may remember I emailed you about Bundlemonster gel polish last month ? well this color is almost identical to one I purchases from BMC in a set of Six polishes.
I was using RCM base and top coat and recently purchased IBD base and top coat but I find the nails are chipping since i changed over. I am using the 18G LED Lamp and curing for 30s. Is it something I am doing wrong so you think?? Any tips would be great thanks.
It’s hard to say. I haven’t tried the ibd base and top, but most people that I know prefer the Gelish base and top.
I tried IBD base and top on myself and a friend and both our manis were chipping and peeling the next day! Haven’t used it since

At the beginning, I Just wanted to buy Gelish because I’ve read so much good reviews ( especially from you hihi), I was thinking, it might be the best brand (you know, I’m living in France And i have to buy my products from USA so i dont want to make a mistake cause I cańt see the colors or the textures….) but now I’m in love with Ibd because they have so many colors, it costs less than G, it s easy to apply and to remove, à dream in a bottle ! So I’m Happy to read that you love them too. This particular color is so deep And nice, I really like it. I love météorite too. Did you buy it ? And camélia petals ? And jasper Casper (à butterfly topper)… I like them all And my clients too ! Kisses from Paris !

Hi Amy. I don’t have whole collections from ibd, just some random colors that I picked up. Some are newer, some older. It could take me a while to get through them so you may not want to wait on me :)

I guess I am the “other” Suzanne :) I was wondering if anyone noticed a strong smell with the ibd polish? I used Indian Sari for the first time yesterday and I was quite put off by the smell. I have 25 Gelish polishes and never noticed a smell.

Hi “other” Suzanne! Lol. I noticed a really strong smell from an IBD top coat that I bought, it was awful. Not noticed it with any of my other IBD polishes. I stoped using their base and top coat as I had lifting and peeling the next day
I just did a bunch of new swatch sticks with IBD and didn’t notice a strong odor.

I love IBD Just Gel, but I have a difficult time choosing which ones to buy due to lack of swatches available. I’m so excited that you will be doing some! Thank you!! I depend on your Gelish swatches when ordering Gelish, but the price and quality of IBD makes it difficult to justify buying Gelish or OPI Gelcolor.
I’ll be keeping my eye out for your IBD swatches. Is this brand available for purchase in any retail store? Or is the only way to get it is to order from Amazon? Thanks for your swatches. I’m looking forward to the fade test with this brand.
Hi Andrea! Thanks so much for talking about IBD. I don’t know why but I kind of assumed because its thin it will have a sheer application. I just bought 8 IBD colors and the application is superb!!! No shrinking, I got a beautiful, crisp line at the cuticle, I’m so impressed!!
I had IBD base/top which I tried a long time ago and I got shrinking. Today I used the colors (all different on all nails lol) with Couture base and Couture top on half of the nails.
The other half I topped with OPI Gel Color top gloss. I noticed (and remembered why I didn’t like Gelish top gloss) that it has that strange blue hue under the UV/LED light. OPI doesn’t glow like that :)
I love the ibd colors, but I didn’t have much luck with the ibd base – it peels right off on me. So I usually use my Gelish base & top with the ibd colors :)
Maybe because of the IBD base and top I have up on the brand while ago? I’m so glad I re-discovered it!!
Ps. I went to my supplier today and I looked for Pan-Duh the light, shimmery pink you swatched and they don’t have it!! They carry the full line, so strange!! Do you know if it’s discontinued?
