I had the honor of being featured in Nail It! Magazine where I highlighted some of the products that “I Can’t Live Without“, and answered a few questions. I wanted to share the love with my readers and provide you with an opportunity to win all of the items that were included in the article! Below is a picture of the magazine article… it’s on page 60 in the January/February 2015 issue (click the image to see a larger view).

I Can’t Live Without…

These are my some of my favorite items:

nail-mates-removal-6NailMates (www.nailmates.net): Ever since I reviewed NailMates last year, these have been my go-to product for gel polish removal! I will never use the foil method again. NailMates are so easy to use, are drip-free, and they can be cleaned and re-used time and time again! (Read my full review here).  NailMates has donated a set for each winner of the giveaway!

curad-alcohol-prep-padsCurad Alcohol Prep Pads: I use alcohol prep pads/wipes for all of my cleansing during nail prep, and post-mani clean-ups. I go through tons of these wipes, and if you’ve watched any of my videos I’m sure you’ve seen them. I find these so much easier to use than liquid cleansers.  They can be purchased at most drug stores in the first-aid section.

gelish-miniGelish LED Lamp (www.getgelished.com or www.sallybeauty.com): The Gelish 18G is my go-to lamp, as most of you know. Since it’s a pro lamp and Nail It! is a DIY magazine, they recommended the Gelish MINI Pro 45 LED lamp instead and added a little disclaimer that says “Beight love the pro-only Gelish 18G Professional LED Light”.  Gelish MINI has graciously donated a MINI Pro 45 LED lamp and two Basix Kits for this giveaway!

girly-bits-giveaway-kitFrazzle Fixer Cuticle Oil (www.girlybitscosmetics.com): People always ask what I do to keep the skin around my nails healthy with all of the polish changes that I do, and the answer is cuticle oil! I use tons of it! Girly Bits Frazzle Fixer in Sangria Scent is one of my favorites.  Pam at Girly Bits put together the cutest little kits for this giveaway with some decorative boxes!  Click on the picture to the right to enlarge.

Do you use a specific alcohol type in the swabs? I’ve seen that you’re supposed to use the 99% version of alcohol but can’t find it in the pad form

    • Andrea says:

No, I think the ones I use are only 70%.

      • Connie Farmer says:

Thank you for clearing that up. I finally found 99% alcohol in a bottle. This dries my nails and skin white and makes them very dry. Connie Farmer

I use whatever I have on hand for the remaining sticky inhibition layer for cleanup, or pre-cured gel polish ‘outside of the lines’: isopropyl 70% or 90% or rubbing alcohol. They all work. For wiping off the gel polish and soaking with foil, I certainly need the acetone, however.

    Oooo, Nail It! Nice.

  4. Monika says:

It would be really neat to have a high-quality lamp to try and to compare with my little one!

I love gel polish but have always been frustrated with how well it stays on my nails when I’m trying to soak it off. Just ordered Nailmates based on your recommendation and am hoping it works for me. Since stumbling across your blog, I’ve been dabbling in nail art and having tons of fun with it. Thanks!

    • Andrea says:

File the top coat off real well with a nail file before starting your soak-off, just be sure not to file all the way down to your natural nail. If that doesn’t help speed things up, try applying a heat source while you soak… a heating pad or heated mitts. You can do this with the NailMates or foil.

      • Melissa says:

Thanks for the tips, Andrea. I have been filing the top coat down until I’m filing off color. I’ll try using heat with my new NailMates when they arrive!

    Hello Andrea!
Are these alcohol prep pads lint free? Do they need to be lint free? Would using the gelish ph bond work the same? Thanks to your blog I’ve been able to purchase lots of beautiful colors. I ❤️Ibd! You including the links makes it so much easier to purchase! Congrats :)

    • Andrea says:

They’re not completely lint-free. Every once in a while I get a stray fiber, but it’s rare and they work very well. Just using the pH Bond isn’t enough to cleanse your nails – you need to wipe them with a cleanser or alcohol real well and then apply the pH Bond. :)

  7. Shanna says:

Damn wish I had a twitter, but oh well i got all the other ones

  8. Laura Clark says:

I found the Curad alcohol pads at Costco – 4 boxes (total 400 pads) for $4.49. Great deal!

I don’t know how I have survived without Nailmates. Used them for the first time today to get off some gelish glitter polish that I had on super thick as I had extended it to 3 weeks with some fill in at the bottom and repairs. Yes, I am lazy. I am also super impatient and it was so nice to be able to check it constantly without the hassle of refoiling, more remover and dealing with drippy cotton. LOVE THESE!
