Glam and Glits Ink Art Gel Polish
Glam and Glits released a line of Ink gel art polishes, which are the first that I’ve heard of. Each bottle has a long, thin nail art brush that enables you to create artistic designs. I created the freehand nail art below using four colors: Black, Charm (teal blue), and Blaze (orange) and Chrome (silver glitter). I applied these over a white base of Ink Glacier. The art brushes were very easy to use, and the colors of the creme polishes were highly pigmented so in most cases only one coat of polish was needed. I was also impressed with how distinct the lines are with these because most gel polishes tend to spread out and not allow for crisp lines. The only polish I was a little disappointed in was Chrome because the glitter didn’t seem very dense and I couldn’t get a solid streak of glitter off of the brush, so I just used that one as an accent over top of the other colors. The polishes all cured nicely and I didn’t experience any wrinkling even if the polish was applied a little thick. These polishes cure in LED and UV lamps, and there are over 30 different colors available. Head on over to the Glam and Glits site to check them out!
I practiced some freehand designs on a color wheel before attempting a design on my nails. I’m very impressed with how easy they were to use. The colors seen in the background below from left to right are: Sin (red), Chrome, White, Black, Blaze and Charm.

That’s pretty damn cool. I’ve been looking for the best way to create nail art with gel polish since, like you said, gel polish’s tendency to spread doesn’t create nice, crisp nail art. Thanks for the review! The lines on your mani look great :)

After reading a lot of your post I decided to go out and buy myself a kit.
I got the Red Carpet Manicure set with a mini LED lamp that it says it will cure gel polish in 45. I also bought myself a gelish colour ‘Gossip Girl’.
First time I tried it,things went great up to the last step when I wiped it with an alcohol wipe, colour was coming on.
The next time I tried to cure it for longer and doubled the time but it did not really have any effect.
Now some patches of the colour will come out rough and dull and not even putting the top coat and then curing seems to do anything, as soon as I wipe it all comes off. Am I forgetting something? I asked RCM directly and they said I was probably putting too much ‘structure’ ie foundation coat but I do really thin coat
Any help would really be appreciated as you seem to be all knowing when it comes to gel nail polish!!

Hi Gaby – I’m sorry you’re having troubles. It’s really hard to say, but it sounds like the polish isn’t curing for some reason. Normally I would suggest doubling the time, but it sounds like you’ve already tried that. Also be sure to paint very thin layers of everything, base, color & top coat and cure each layer well.

They look great – do you know if they stamp? Most gel polishes won’t but if they give crisp lines and are one coaters maybe they will?
I have seen a couple stamped designs using Shellac Silver Chrome and Iced Cappuccino but the coulours I’ve tried didn’t work.
That’s a good question. I didn’t think to try, but I will do some testing to see what happens.
