Gelish Snow Escape Collection (Winter 2013) Swatches & Review

I received the Gelish Snow Escape collection in the mail yesterday and as my Christmas present to you, I stayed up all night preparing swatches since I know you’re all eager to see these colors!  So without further ado, let’s get to it!  Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of this post to see a video of the swatches which shows just how sparkly and shiny they are.

Chickettes.com Gelish Snow Escape Collection Swatches360 Black Flip is a dark jelly base with fine holographic glitter.  In this swatch I applied 3 coats on the index and middle finger, and two coats over a black base on the ring finger and pinky.  The base is very sheer and it would take a lot of coats to get it opaque, so I recommend layering this over other colors.  The glitter is stunning, but it reminds me of Vegas Nights and I think the effect is similar to applying Vegas Nights over black.

Gelish 360 Black Flip SwatchGelish 360 Black Flip SwatchSledding in Style is a glitter topper with multi-color glitter of different sizes.  I think this would look great over another color like Let’s Hit the Bunny Slopes (below).  This swatch is three coats with no base color underneath.

Race You To The Bottom is my favorite of the bunch.  I’m sure you know by now that teal is my favorite color, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one and it certainly didn’t disappoint!  This is a gorgeous shimmery polish.  I call a dark teal, but it really takes on different colors depending on the lighting.  It’s very sultry.  I was going to do some nail art for Christmas, but as soon as I saw this I knew I would be wearing it for the holiday.  I can’t even bring myself to do nail art over top of it because I love it so much.  <3<3<3  This swatch is only two coats.

Gelish Race You to the Bottom SwatchGelish Race You to the Bottom SwatchWanna Share a Lift? is a glittery red jelly polish.  My photos don’t do it justice because it really sparkles in the light.  It is similar to Good Gossip and All Tied Up With a Bow in ways, but it’s a little darker than these two.  I’ll post some comparison pics within a couple of days, so be sure to check back to see those.  This swatch is three coats.

Gelish Wanna Share a Lift? SwatchGelish Wanna Share a Lift? SwatchI Heart My Instructor is a creamy dark blue – I think this is the darkest creamy blue out there.  Let me know what colors you would like to see this compared with and I’ll take some pictures.  I’m thinking of comparing it to Deep Sea, Caution and After Dark.  This swatch is only two coats, so it it has really good coverage.

Gelish I Heart My Instructor SwatchGelish I Heart My Instructor SwatchAnd Let’s Hit the Bunny Slopes is a creamy medium grey.  I will post some comparison pictures of greys too, but this is definitely a unique color.  It’s darker than Cashmere Kind of Gal and lighter than some of the other greys.  It also has some slight blue-ish tones to it.  I think it’s really classy.  I haven’t had time to test it for fading yet, but I’ll be sure to post an update if I find any issues with the color changing.

Here is a short video that I put together to show the colors with some movement and lighting.

I haven’t found this collection for sale many places online yet, but it’s available here.

Merry Christmas everyone!

  1. Great swatches Andrea!

I’m surprised at the one that I do like, which initially wasn’t even on my radar I Heart My Instructor. I’m definitely interested in seeing that next to Deep Sea and Shellac Midnight Swim if you have it. Also if you have RCM And The Winner Is compared to Race You To The Bottom.

Initially I wanted Black Flip and was also eyeing Sledding In Style and the red one but I’m a bit underwhelmed by them now and already gave similar colours…

I don’t have the non-Gelish colors that you mentioned, but I’ll show the other relevant ones that I do have in a comparison post. :)

Wow! You stayed up all night! Above and beyond, Andrea!

Was a nice Christmas present to log on at work at 7am when it was quiet to see these.

It’s now later and I’m at home and able to reply.

Great swatches. Would love sledding if Trends hadn’t just come out. And I have black shadow and vegas nights to do the black glittery. So, although tempted, will probably not be getting any of these. Which is just as well, as I have far too many already ;-)

Hope you had enough sleep to enjoy your Christmas.

Ooooo I love Race You to the Bottom! When will these be available for purchase?

    • Andrea says:

They are coming out now and are available in some places. I posted a link at the bottom of the entry to the site that I purchased mine from :)

Thank you for adding the video! I love seeing the swatches in action. :) Your swatches are always the first place I look before deciding what color to add to my collection.

I purchased Race You To The Bottom because I loved the color but when I applied it the color wasn’t what it looked like on your website :(. The color I got was green and had absolutely no blue in it. Disappointed. Any reason why that would be? Thanks!

    • Andrea says:

It is more green with some teal qualities. I can’t guarantee 100% color accuracy in my photos, and they can look different on various screens or devices.
