Gelish Haute Holiday Collection Swatches & Color Comparisons

Gelish Haute Holiday Collection Swatches by Chickettes.com

It’s hard to believe that the holidays are just around the corner again. You can always count on some gorgeous sparkly nail polish collections for the season. Today I have swatches and color comparisons of the new Gelish Haute Holiday Collection! This collection contains six gel polishes; four colors and two Trends glitter toppers. The colors are fairly traditional holiday colors, and some of them are reminiscent of colors from past collections.

All of the colors are a little on the sheer side, but they do build up to a good opacity with three coats.  I found that some of them applied a little streaky, but they self-leveled well and were nice and even after curing.  I didn’t have any other application issues, they applied from edge-to-edge with no pooling or shrinking.

The Gelish MINI Haute Holiday Collection can be purchased at Sally Beauty Supply online at www.sallybeauty.com, or in retail stores.  This collection will be available on shelves from October through December.  You can also purchase directly from the Gelish MINI website at www.getgelished.com!

The winter collection (The Big Chill) will be available from December through February, and I’ll have those swatches as soon as possible.

Here’s to the Blue Year is a dark navy base with some medium-sized hex glitters and some smaller glitters.

Gelish Haute Holidays - Here's to the Blue Year - Chickettes.comMany of you have asked how this color compares to Holiday Party Blues.  In my opinion, the glitter in Here’s to the New Year is a little sparse and feels a bit muted compared to Holiday Party Blues.  The shade of blue is very, very similar but maybe slightly darker.

The colors below from left-to-right are: Gelish Wiggle Fingers…, After Dark, Caution, Holiday Party Blues & Here’s to the Blue Year.

Gelish Haute Holidays - Here's to the Blue Year Comparison - Chickettes.comBerry Merry Holidays is a really pretty, dark, berry-toned burgundy with a unique shimmer finish.  You can see little flecks of red and blue-ish purple shimmer throughout.  This shade is very unique to the Gelish line and I think is a must-have.

Gelish Haute Holidays - Berry Merry Holidays - Chickettes.comSugar Plum Dreams is a shimmery bright red, a classic holiday color.  When compared side-by-side with other reds, this one looks slightly pinkish.

Gelish Haute Holidays - Sugar Plum Dreams - Chickettes.comSo let’s see how these two reds compare to other sparkly reds in the Gelish line.  Sugar Plum Dreams has a very consistent shimmery finish compared to the glittery finish of All Tied Up. The shimmer is finer than Good Gossip, which is more sparkly.  And Berry Merry Holidays is the darkest shimmery red, next to Wanna Share a Lift?

The colors in the photo below from left-to-right are: Gelish Life of the Party (Trends), With His Red So Bright, Good Gossip, Sugar Plum Dreams, All Tied Up With a Bow, Wanna Share a Lift?, and Berry Merry Holidays.

berry-merryKisses Under the Mistletoe is a very pretty teal with fine teal glitter throughout.  This one is a little more sheer than the others and does show some visible nail line, but I still rather like it.

Gelish Haute Holidays - Kisses Under the Mistletoe - Chickettes.comKisses Under the Mistletoe is actually very similar in formula to Just What I Wanted, except the shade is visibly more blue/teal than green.

The colors seen below from left-to-right are: Gelish Mint Icing, Just What I Wanted, Kisses Under the Mistletoe and Oocha Coocha.

Your Sleigh or Mine is a Gelish Trends glitter topper.  Below you can see two coats over my natural nails, but the Trends toppers are also great when worn over color bases.  The two Trends toppers in this collection are very similar to one another as they both have purple and blue glitters, but one has silver glitter and the other has gold.  Your Sleigh or Mine is the silver version.

The two Trends toppers are available as a set here on Amazon, which comes with a free Gelish Top It Off.  The set is called Twinkle Kisses.

Gelish Haute Holidays - Your Sleigh or Mine - Chickettes.comFeeling Bubbly is the gold Trends glitter topper, also with blue and purple glitters throughout.

Gelish Haute Holidays - Feeling Bubbly - Chickettes.comSo what are your thoughts on the Haute Holiday collection?  Which ones are your must-haves?  :)

The Gelish MINI Haute Holiday Collection can be purchased at Sally Beauty Supply online at www.sallybeauty.com, or in retail stores. This collection will be available on shelves from October through December. You can also purchase directly from the Gelish MINI website at www.getgelished.com!

well dang it those are gorgeous. For the first time ever I may need to buy a whole collection. That blue and the berry are outstanding!

  2. Cathy says:

I’d love to see “Kisses Under the Mistletoe” next to “Race You to the Bottom”. Thanks. :)

Hi Cathy – I added a picture into the post that includes Race You to the Bottom :)

    • Cathy says:

Thanks! I think I’m still hooked on “Race You to the Bottom”…thanks to a post you did last year. I love your website. It’s like visual candy. :)

  3. Tiane says:

Yes, I was also hoping to see Kisses Under The Mistletoe compared to Race You To The Bottom. The collection is not grabbing me as much as I had expected, my purse is sighing with relief. Only ordered Your Sleigh Or Mine.

Am eagerly awaiting your swatches for The Big Chill……. Very eagerly awaiting those.

    • Andrea says:

Hi Tiane – I added a picture into the post that includes Race You to the Bottom :) I don’t have the Big Chill colors yet, but will post them when I can. Thanks!

      • Tiane says:

Thanks Andrea. Will you be doing any more swatches/pops with the 2 trends, over a light and a dark colour? It is so difficult to gage the trend line without seeing it over a colour (I don’t use the 2014 trends on their own).

Also, I was wandering round your site peeking into past reviews, and I noticed you haven’t been doing videos lately. The trends spring/summer videos were so great, a real help with choosing colours. Pictures are always best but I also love your videos x

        • Andrea says:

I will try to do more swatches of the glitters over other colors. Videos take a lot of time, so I don’t do them as often. Without videos, doing a collection like this takes about 7-8 hours :)

    • Anna says:

I’m much more excited for The Big Chill too!

  4. Holandesa says:

I like the blue, green and the red one the most, but I do agree with you, they are very similar to other colors from previous collections!…

  5. Roxana says:

Got Berry Merry. Thank you for enabling ;-)

  6. Laura says:

So there’s a winter AND a holiday set? When does this stuff usually hit stores?

    • Andrea says:

Yes. The winter collection is called The Big Chill. I’m not sure about when they will hit stores. I thought they were slated for November (holiday) & December (winter), but I could be wrong.

  7. Kristin says:

Love the new colors. I just purchased Elegant Wish, and was wondering how
Berry Merry Holidays compares with it.
Please keep up the great reviews.

  8. Jane says:

Thanks so much for these. Looks like Merry Berry is the only one I will be looking to get, as others are too similar to colours I already have from earlier collections. I think nail techs with sizable client bases just buy the new collection and phase out the old colours which are similar.

Looking forward to The Big Chill. It’s right that Sally’s here in the UK has them, but weirdly, Nail Harmony does not.

  9. Jules says:

The feeling bubbly is def a very pretty topper. I will be going to check this out and that’s for sure!

  10. Jenna says:

I love the kisses under the mistletoe over the top of take in the green. Gives a real emerald looking colour. Very festive!

  11. Wanda says:

I had the same idea as Jenna. I used a dark green under Kisses Under The Mistletoe, once I read the post and learned that it was a bit on the sheer side. It was perfect! I love that it is a blue green, as that tone goes better with my skin tone. I LOVE this polish.

  12. Bre says:

I’m curious if you have tested Here’s to the Blue Year with a white base coat? Is it sheer enough that it would give it a “pop” to lighten it up and bring the sparkles out more?

  13. Lisa says:

    Hi,
I just bought “here’s to the blue year” but really not getting on with it. Im getting shrinkage and finding it really runny making it hard to get it nice a close to the cuticle in fear it will drown lol. Is there any tips? The other two colours I got are fine. I did dry brush and doing thin layers. Thanks
