Gelaze Awakening, ibd Tabloid Talk, Ink Berry Funk

I have swatches from three different brands today.  I laid out all of the colors that I own that need to be swatched and put them into color groupings.  These are the purple-leaning pinks and/or pink-leaning purples of the bunch.  The first color seen here is Gelaze Awakening.  It’s a really lovely shade of purple with a golden shimmer.  This color is very similar to ibd Road to Paris, but has a little better coverage.  You can see how the two compare in the last photo on this page.  I applied three coats of Awakening for this swatch.

Gelaze AwakeningThis is ibd Tabloid Talk from the Tinseltown Collection, which is a little more pink than purple and also has a really nice shimmery finish.  This color is rather sheer and still shows visible nail line after three coats as seen below.

purple-pink-compsYou may also notice that I used different lighting in my photos today than normal.  I’ve been experimenting with my lighting to try to show more of the high gloss shine of the polishes.  My lightbox setup was previously filtering the light so much that it often made the finish of the polishes look matte.  So let me know what you think of the lighting and if you prefer to see the shine as in these photos.

Either lighting source is fine with me, but newer visitors and followers of your blog may be puzzled, as I was at first, by all the matte finish macro shots.

  6. Great swatches Andrea. I love the glossy shine but to be fair, your photos are always amazing and a great resource whether they’re matte or glossy :)

I love your swatches and whether they are matte or glossy they are still awesome but I prefer the matte look. I guess I’m just used to the old look, but either way keep up the awesome swatches :-) I look forward to more gorgeous colors to add to my wish list!!
