CND Shellac Garden Muse Collection

CND Shellac Garden Muse Collection - swatches by Chickettes.com

This is the Garden Muse Collection from CND Shellac, consisting of six “intense floral hues” for Spring. Similar shades are also available in CND Vinylux weekly polish. Four of the colors in this Shellac collection are new shades, and two were already existing shades in the CND line (Hot Pop Pink & Water Park).

I’m loving the more vibrant shades in this collection! I like to wear bright, bold colors so these are much more in line with what I would typically wear. And each shade is unique to my personal collection… I couldn’t find any other colors that were like any of these.

Butterfly Queen is hands down my favorite color in this collection.  It’s a bright, vibrant fuchsia that’s loaded with glitter and has great coverage with just two coats as seen here.  I wore this color for several days and received tons of compliments.  I hope CND will release more colors with this type of finish.  The swatches I’ve seen of the Vinylux version of this polish weren’t as impressive… the Shellac formula seems to be more glittery.

CND Shellac Garden Muse Collection - Wisteria Haze - swatch by Chickettes.comBeckoning Begonia is a lovely lilac-leaning pink with a shimmer finish.  This is another favorite of mine.  This shade is also one that falls in between color groups since it’s more purple than my pinks, and more pink than my purples.

CND Shellac Garden Muse Collection - Lost Labyrinth - swatch by Chickettes.comWater Park is one of the colors that was already in existence in the Shellac line.  It’s a very frosty medium blue.  Of all the colors, I was least thrilled with this one and I normally love blues.  The tone is a little cool and didn’t seem to work as well with my skin tone and it leaves very heavy brushstrokes which you can see here.

CND Shellac Garden Muse Collection - Water Park - swatch by Chickettes.comHot Pop Pink is the other shade that already existed.  It’s a medium-to-dark bright pink cream that’s awesome for the Spring and Summer months.  The shade is a little darker than most of my pink creams.  It’s not neon, but is very vibrant and really pops!

I love the Butterfly Queen and Beckoning Begonia. I am just curious if you cured in UV or LED light? And if you use Shellac Base and Top coat, or another brand? I don’t have any Shellac, but am interested in getting a few. I have both an LED lamp and UV lamp, but I was hoping to use Gelish top and base coat. Just wondering what your opinion is on this. Thanks :)

I did “cure” them in my LED just for swatching purposes, but just because they hardened in my LED lamp doesn’t mean they were fully cured and would be long-lasting. I can’t say whether or not they will cure in LED since the manufacturer recommends a UV lamp. Shellac color does work best with the Shellac base & top, though I have combined it with Gelish before and it seemed to be ok.

The Butterfly queen is such a beauty! I super love the color and the glitters on it. This is something worth trying out in this collection for me.

    Hi!
Is CNS Shellac LED curable? I have been trying to find out, and I have seen yes that it is and no, it isn’t.
    Thanks!

    • Briana says:

Sorry! It was autocorrected to CNS. I meant CND.

The manufacturer recommends a UV lamp, not LED. I did “cure” them in my LED just for swatching purposes, but just because they hardened in my LED lamp doesn’t mean they were fully cured and would be long-lasting. I can’t say whether or not they will cure completely in LED.

I already have Pink Gellac baby lila and am thinking about CND beckoning begonia. Are they close in color?

Hi Andrea! I love your blog! Great for true color swatches and reviews. I just used CND shellac in Beckoning Begonia and I found it streaky and fussy to apply. Did you find that at all ? Also, I am testing out gel polish brands for my future clients. I am really impressed with the longevity of shellac, and tried out Madam glam. I did break a nail and the polish peeled off by day 6. What’s your opinion of these brands and what is your preferred brand for your clients? Thanks!

    • Andrea says:

Thank you. I don’t remember Beckoning Begonia being streaky – I normally note when I find an issue with the formula of a polish. At school we use CND Shellac on clients, but I don’t have a choice in the matter. Shellac is a good quality brand and it seems to last a long time on our clients. I have a few regulars that make it 3 weeks without chips. I love Madam Glam polishes and they last well on me and maintain the high gloss shine even when I use acetone on client. I haven’t decided yet what brand(s) I will use on clients when I start doing nails on my own.

Hi! I love the butterfly queen color, but only have a Red Carpet LED lamp. I know this brand may not fully cure in this lamp. Is there another color you can think of that is close to this? Or should I just try it with the LED lamp. I should mention I am NOT a professional, just doing my own manicures to cut down my salon visits. Thanks!!!

    • Andrea says:

I don’t know of another color similar to Butterfly Queen. It should cure in the LED lamp that you have, but it may take longer (60-120 seconds).

Hi Andrea. I’m in my 60’s and have done my own nails since high school…wayyyy back in the dark ages. I just love the CND shellac, and the ease it goes on. I have a polish mixer and it works great! No shaking the shellac forever. I love the butterfly queen and the frosted shades too. I found the first coat to be streaky but once I apply the second coat (maybe the third since the coats are thin) the coats blend in so well.

Thank You for having this blog (I just found you) and the great photos of the CND colors. Your blog lets me know which colors to buy for my own personal use, instead of hoping it’s the right color I want, when I shop online.

    Thanks so much
