CND Shellac Contradictions Collection Swatches

CND Shellac Contradictions Collection - Fall 2015 - Swatches by Chickettes.comHey all!  I’m a little behind the times, but better late than never.  This is the CND Shellac Contradictions Collection that was released in the Fall.  These six shades are available in the CND Shellac and Vinylux lines.  This collection contains mostly classic shades and doesn’t excite me too much, but I love the blue color.  Each of the swatches below shows two coats of color unless otherwise noted.

Naked Naivete is a light peach-leaning neutral cream.  I applied three coats of this color because it looked slightly patchy with just two, but two coats will suffice.  This color would probably look better on pink-toned or dark skin than it does on my honey-toned skin.

CND Shellac Naken NaiveteSafety Pin is a frosty champagne color.  It has metallic qualities, but isn’t quite gold or bronze.  It’s very similar to Gelish Oh What a Knight, but the coverage isn’t as good.  I used this color on my mom’s nails and actually had some issues with curing in my LED lamp.  I had to break out the old UV light to ensure that they were cured completely.  This is another color that doesn’t look great on my skin tone, but looks awesome on darker skin.

CND Shellac Safety PinTartan Punk is a medium-toned red with a frosty finish.  It’s similar to Gelish In Case Tomorrow Never Comes and slightly brighter than Gelish Queen of Hearts.

CND Shellac Tartan PunkRouge Rite is a dark red cream.  This swatch shows two coats, but three would darken it up a touch and provide a little better coverage.  The color is similar to Gelish A Touch of Sass.

CND Shellac Rouge RitePoison Plum has a plum jelly base with some purple glitter throughout.  I like that even though this polish has glitter in it, it doesn’t smack you in the face… it’s rather subtle and gives off just a hint of shimmer when the light hits it right.

CND Shellac Poison PlumPeacock Plume as I mentioned is my favorite in the set.  It’s a medium-to-dark blue with teal-toned shimmer.  I can’t find another blue in my stash that’s quite like it.

CND Shellac Peacock PlumeDo any of the colors in this collection stand out to you?  Any must-haves?

Do you think you will be doing any new Opi Gelcolor swatches what’s you’re feeling about gelcolor quality longevity colors?

I don’t have any immediate plans to swatch OPI GelColors. I haven’t done must testing with their polishes, but I wasn’t crazy about the consistency of the one collection that I swatched.

How does Peacock Plume compare to Pink Gellac Marvelous Blue in real life? They look very similar in pictures.

Would really love to see you swatch all of the shellac colors you do such a great job of really capturing the colors in your photographs and I really appreciate your honest opinions and the feedback from all of your followers they have made so much of a difference in the colors I have purchased and I am usually pleased.
Thank you very much for all of you posts and hard work

CND’s site has horrible colors compared to what I see on your nails. So thank you. Now that it’s LED curable (maybe not all?) it seems its Express Top coat with a 5 minute soak off would be great to use. Do you know if it can be used with other brands like Pink Gellac? I need faster soak off time. It’s the only think I struggle with using gels.

    • Andrea says:

You “should” use the same base/top coat brand as the color you’re using, but I tend to mix and match brands a lot and haven’t had any issues. :) For faster soak-offs use a coarse grit nail file to really break through the top coat and apply heat after wrapping your nails (heated mitts or a heating pad).

What is the difference b/t CND’s Power Polish and Color Coat? Thanks, Andrea.
