A Feather Manicure in Memory
I had a bit of a rough weekend after hearing he passed and as I sat down to do my weekly mani I knew that I had to use feathers again in memory of him. This time I went all out and put feathers on every nail! Life is too short sometimes. Had I known it would be the last time I would see my friend, I would have spent more time with him while he was here and given him a much tighter hug when he left.
For this mani I applied my Gelish base coat and cured. From there I did each nail individually since using feathers is a little tricky. I applied a layer of Gelish top coat over the base and while it was still wet, I placed a feather onto my nail and pressed it down into the top coat and then cured (these are small craft feathers that you can get online or at a craft store). The feathers wanted to stick up on the sides, so I used an orangewood stick to hold the sides down while I was curing. Sometimes the feathers still stuck up a bit, so I applied more top coat over the feather one side at a time and again held it in place while curing.
At this point the feather still extended over the top edge of the nail, so I trimmed it down with scissors and then filed the remainder off. Because I didn’t use a base color underneath, the tips of my nails were exposed slightly, so I used Couture Little Black Dress to cap the edges and hide the visible tips. And then I finally topped it all off with one last layer of top coat.
I’m so sorry for your loss. This mani is a wonderful way to remember your friend.
Gorgeous! I am very sorry to hear of your friend. It’s never easy to say goodbye forever. Just remember the fun times you had together and keep those memories close to your heart! I absolutely love your posts. You have helped me many times while learning to do Gelish over the past year and you are my go to website to find out any information I could possibly want to know about the gel products.
Thank you so much for sharing your abundance of Gelish knowledge!

Thank you very much. That’s a beautiful quote.

I’m so sorry for your loss, this is beautiful
I’m so sorry for your loss. I also remember how impressed I was by your use of the feathers in your grey-and-yellow manicure when I saw it. This one is quite a tribute to your friend’s memory, beautifying both your nails and the web as well in the way your friend was impressed with, and I know, still is. I hope it’s OK if I pray for you and his family; that your grief and loss will heal soon and all the great memories of your friend will remain.
A beautiful mani for beautiful memories

This is a beautiful mani! Great way to honor your friend. So sorry for your loss!
Hi Chickettes, this post has taken me out of silent admiration of your expertise (‘lurking’ but not like a creep). I am so sorry to hear about your wonderful friend moving on. He was such a special guy and touched so many hearts that he had done what needed to be done, and his uniqueness was needed somewhere else. Where he is he’s well and fine, but it is us who he leaves behind that are heartbroken. My sincere condolences to you and his loved ones, including his family who must be in unimaginable shock. The ones we love never really leave us. When you miss him, just ask for him to be there, and in your heart you’ll feel him. It’s not the same, but his specialness was needed somewhere else. He is spreading his special kind of magic now in another part of the universe.
Thank you very much for these kind words. You are so right :)
Glad to… *hug* Thanks for sharing his specialness with us.
